O papel do makerspace na transformação das bibliotecas universitárias

Resumen

Introdução: a pesquisa aborda o papel das inovações tecnológicas no processo de evolução das bibliotecas, focando no uso dos makerspaces em bibliotecas universitárias. Objetivo: identificar se a inserção do makerspace nos espaços físicos das bibliotecas representa uma mudança permanente na concepção da biblioteca universitária. Metodologia: utilizando o método de levantamento, foram enviados questionários à bibliotecas universitárias listadas nos principais rankings universitários. Análise dos dados: as bibliotecas que possuem makerspace estão localizadas sobretudo em países desenvolvidos. O foco dos makerspaces na biblioteca universitária está voltado para as disciplinas técnico-científicas e as principais ferramentas disponibilizadas são impressora 3D, equipamentos de eletrônica, circuitos e programação. A maior parte dos recursos financeiros advém principalmente das próprias bibliotecas. O acesso ao makerspace é gratuito na grande maioria dos espaços. Não houve resistência por parte dos usuários para inserção dos makerspaces no espaço físico. A maior parte dos respondentes considera como uma tendência permanente nas bibliotecas, bem como acreditam que o makerspace pode melhorar o desempenho acadêmico dos estudantes. Com relação ao aumento do engajamento dos estudantes a opinião dos respondentes é preponderantemente neutra. Conclusão: os makerspaces têm sim um grande potencial em se tornar uma tendência permanente nas bibliotecas universitárias. Mais estudos são necessários para que o espaço tenha propósito e condições de se manter
