Abstract

This article aims to review the literature on the media as information source and to contribute to the strengthening of approaches to its assessment for the critical and ethical use. It reinforces the importance of investigating the use of media as information source, given the increasing access to and use of this resource type. Highlights the lack of studies in Information Science area that have the media as objects of study. Discusses features of the main media sources such as newspapers, television and internet. It presents theoretical elements for analysis and evaluation of media sources, with examples of application
