Information society library x : in search of modern professional information (MIP)

Abstract

The present society is under construction, being defined from changes caused by information explosion and the new technological artifacts developed for the effective management of information generated and disseminated in the social context. This new social environment causes changes in all social institutions and professionals. From this context, this paper presents the pressures overlapping the librarian, whose professional work aims to meet the differentiated needs, the adequacy of the triad is necessary: technology, innovation and improvement. Through a literature review on national and international studies on the need to adapt to the Librarian of the Modern Information Professional (MIP) profile was gathered that the librarian should follow changes through continuing education and multidisciplinary work, order to fit the new workspace: the hybrid library in a dynamic, diverse and changeable, typical context of postmodern society. It was learned that the powers of the MIP does not meet the requirements of the new millennium, which requires the expansion of those powers libraries, making it prone to meet the complexities of this new space professional .Information and communication.
