Abstract

This research is characterized as qualitative, based on a case study, and intends to find out whether the literature in Rio Grande do Sul is part of the literary collection of school and public libraries in Rio Grande do Sul and how the mediation and dissemination process takes place. reading and literature for the community. The subjects of this research are librarians who work in school libraries of public institutions, at the federal, state and municipal levels, and the private network and librarians who work in public municipal libraries in the State of Rio Grande do Sul. In the school library and public library scenario, the protagonist is the reader, with his needs, desires and desires in relation to access, use and production of information and reading practices. Also the protagonist is the librarian who acts as a mediator of information and reading and as an agent for the dissemination of literature, of cultural action, an educator. It is expected, in times of increasingly intense use of technologies, that the library will be the place of bibliodiversity, where the promotion and dissemination of literature in Rio Grande do Sul will be carried out through different information supports, from books to e -book, contemplating all people, without exception, in their right to access and use the book, reading, knowledge and libraries.
