Abstract

It presents the report of a project that has as one of the objectives of developing training activities for teachers and students, that propitiate the inclusion of the information and media literacy in the curriculum and school culture of two municipal schools in the city of Marilia, São Paulo, Brazil. This is a pilot project, which follows the approach of action research in progress since 2013. The project's partners the Department of Education of the City and the managers of the participating schools. The teacher training work is one of the project actions and was discussed and planned together with those involved. The content covers the concept of the school library, including print and digital various information resources that can be used as resources for learning. School research is presented as a strategy for the process of teaching and learning, during which they can be worked out elements of the information and media competence. The monitoring of project results is being carried out through the evaluation through questionnaires and, indirectly, through consultation to the weekly report of the teachers. It is noticed that gradually worked the contents have been included in activities and resulted in exhibitions of student work. Another development is the proposal to expand the project to other municipal schools
