Abstract

Cultural action is a term with many different meanings, ranging from possession, control or power over certain individual objects, works or manufacturing, to represent concepts and meanings of social practices and worldviews. Cultural action presupposes the notion of culture as an ongoing process. This study aims to make a conceptual distinction between animation and cultural action, focusing on the librarian as a cultural agent and his preparation for the performance of the function by analyzing some obstacles inherent in this exercise, as the academic training and the lack of cultural experience. It also aims to present considerations of cultural action while dynamic work scope and results. To develop the study methodology used was a basic research with exploratory objectively from a literature review qualitative, inductive approach. It was concluded that, despite the challenges and academic deficiencies, the librarian has full capacity to become a transforming agent in her performance in public libraries.
