Update and complement of the collection of the especialized libraries in agricultural research

Abstract

This report aim to present some results of the bibliographic acquisition process realized in library, part of the Embrapa Library System (SEB), localized in 3 research units from Embrapa (UDs), localized in the state of Rio de Janeiro. In this sense, exposes some aspects of the infrastructure to access and information retrieval system, observing a SEB's responsibility in this activity. The methodological basis portrayed the acquisition as one of the stages of Collection Development process (DC), whose politics and strategic functions can subsidize higher security for the formation of the collection. Therefore, the work was based on the description of all stages of the purchasing process, observed in some studies of this area. As a result, argued that although some factors have mad impossible the purchase of e-books, items purchased caused a positive impact on the growth rate of SEB's collection, permitting thus overcoming the average purchase in the last 10 years.
