The contribution of the Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations in the dissemination of knowledge in the humanities and social

Abstract

The knowledge produced in Master's and Ph.D. is recorded in theses and dissertations produced by the student body. Several surveys conducted in the areas of Humanities and Social are funded with public money, assuming the authors of the work committed to making public their production to society. Among the available means of disseminating academic production, the Biblioteca Digital de Teses e Dissertações (BDTD) is an initiative of aggregating knowledge, providing the information in one place, making it easier for users to find the desired information. With this objective, we sought to examine the contribution of BDTD the areas of humanities and social dissemination of the knowledge produced at the Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF), the local and national level, given the higher profile gained through Brazilian BDTD. Evidenced the need for greater proximity between the library and the coordination graduate, for the maintenance and development of BDTD - UFF as well as a greater awareness of the authors of workers them to him about the importance of BDTD to the spread of knowledge produced.
