Abstract

The article registers a reflection about the role of information professional – the librarian – as an information mediator in digital and social inclusion processes, with the objective of rethinking these phenomena and how they can be reversible in the perspective of access and use of information in order to build knowledge. The thematic broached can be not only contextualized in Librarianship, as well as in Information Science in an interdisciplinary way, considering the concern of these both areas with information access that allows subjects’ social inclusion, favoring technologies accesses as well as the development of  skills and competences associated to their uses. The informed subjects become active in the searching and requirement of their rights and so, it is a social responsibility of information professionals’ acting in the inclusion processes of these subjects to generate knowledge.
