Jemima Marques de Oliveira: origens, vida, contribuições, lembranças e saudades

Abstract

On the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the Undergraduate Librarianship Course at the Federal University of Paraíba, 10 years after the passing of Professor Jemima Marques de Oliveira, this text presents and records, as a posthumous tribute, her history and, more specifically, her legacy in terms of contributions to Librarianship. It adopts a narrative structure, centered on four perspectives: Professor Jemima's origins and family constitution; the history of her academic-scientific and professional life and her role in the associative movement and political-social activism; her contribution to teaching, research, extension and management activities; reflections on the importance, recognition and nostalgia for the professor; and, finally, images that depict her career in Librarianship, from her academic background to her leading role and her defense of the cause of books, reading and libraries, as a testimony to her career and legacy.
