Abstract

The assessment of the degree of satisfaction of academics to conduct training for the use of information sources in academic libraries is an important factor to be considered in planning activities. This article aims to present the views of academics in relation to the first distance learning course on standardization of scientific studies and research in databases developed by the Technical Division of Library and Documentation Unesp-Botucatu-Rubião Junior Campus and the Center for Distance Education and Information Technology in Health, Faculty of Medicine of Botucatu. The course took place from August to November 2009, distributed in 10 classes. For the collection of opinions, was drafted a semi structured questionnaire consisting of eight questions. It was found that all students already had experience with the methodology adopted, the staff of the Faculty of Medicine and graduate students are the ones who attended the course, 60% of students accessed the platform two to three times per week using both personal computers as that in their workplaces. This experience shows that distance education can greatly contribute to the training of users of university libraries.
