Abstract
The following article intends to know the current situation in the public libraries of Sergipe in terms of continued education and work motivation. The methodology applied is based in descriptive research with quali-quantitative approach using bibliographical research through known databases of the field to the collection of literature on the subject. Questionnaires were used to gather the information. The level of formation of the acting professionals in the libraries were checked, as well as determining motivational factors to participate in continued education programs. Moreover, it was possible to observe the necessity of training of the professionals, specially towards managing aspects, administrative, archive formation and IT. As such, the importance of continued education to the managing librarian and the involved team is highlighted, since the capacitation of these professionals have influence in the social, cultural and informational roles of the public libraries in the analysed cities and contribute to a better user reception.
