Abstract

This article aims to present readers with a possible methodology for implementing a coworking space in university libraries, through the presentation of a Coworking prototype applied to the University library of the University of the State of Santa Catarina (Udesc). Thus, we seek to highlight the possible contributions of this service to users and the institution. The methodology used to prepare this article can be classified as bibliographic research of an applied nature, through a qualitative approach. With regard to the results obtained, it can be seen that the implementation of a Coworking space can optimize the use of library resources and spaces, promote innovation and entrepreneurship, thus providing benefits for both involved parties (library and users). As a contribution, the research in question aims at directing the look at the potential of the performance of innovative services within the spaces of Information Units. It is concluded that the implementation of Coworking in university libraries can occur in a very simplified way, with the use of free software, easily accessible and handled by any university libraries, providing them with opportunities to innovate in the delivery of their services and, consequently, increase demand for and use of the library.
