Abstract
Identifies the safety measures against accidents adopted by Goiânia's public libraries: Pio Vargas State Public Library, Cora Coralina Municipal Public Library and Marietta Telles Machado Municipal Public Library and verifies if exists a contingency/emergency plan adopted by those institutions. As methodology, a checklist is done in locus and a structured interview with the libraries workers. The obtained results shows that the libraries are not prepared against accidents and have no emergency plan in its institutions. The paper concludes, then, the need of changes in safety measures to meet the goal to better protect public libraries.
