Abstract
The associative movement directed to Librarianship has been strengthening in Brazil, especially by providing training to librarians, therefore guaranteeing the strengthening of the area over time, especially in the face of the unstable and competitive context promoted by globalization and intensified use of digital technologies. This article reveals the main purposes, projects and actions developed by the Association of Librarians of Minas Gerais, in order to reinforce the potential of associations of librarians within the scope of Brazilian states. Characterized as an experience report, in addition to a brief theoretical foundation, the text also addresses what this association has accomplished over the past two years (2018 and 2019), highlighting mainly the results achieved and what they represent for strengthening the area. Based on experiences, challenges and achievements, it was possible to affirm that the strengthening of the area is achieved, through the various activities that a professional association can offer, such as: training professionals, stimulating culture and leisure, exchanging experiences and opportunities to recognize the profession's potential. To achieve these activities, no novelty or anything very complex is required, but simple actions, such as: offering courses, different events and social projects.
