Abstract

The article aims to present the RSS technology as an option to minimize the problem of information overload and facilitate the organization and dissemination of content on the Web starts with a brief history on the evolution of new information technologies and communication. Reflects on the information overload caused by the advance of scientific and technological communication and the mass production of knowledge. Discusses the process of selective dissemination of information as an important factor in web development, and presents technology as an RSS aggregator and facilitator, which selects for the web user, only the information of interest. List the major sites in the area of Information Science and Librarianship offering RSS technology, including magazines, blogs and institutions. I conclude by  emphasizing the importance of the availability of RSS feed sites in institutions, databases and digital repositories, especially for users familiar with this type of tool and have access to information of interest to you as soon as they are made available on the web
