Abstract

The public library can provide user training to register resumes on company websites that recruit candidates for job opportunities. In addition, it can offer professional training in the library environment to increase the chances of entering the professional market. This research is a case study of the Cial Brito Municipal Library in Nova Iguaçu, located in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The study of theorists about this research allows us to reflect Bauman's (2008) speech about the consumer society. We also bring to the debate Beck's theoretical contribution (2003) about the social vulnerability of people victims of the capitalist logic. In this paper we seek to reflect on the labor market scenario in Brazil. Although the labor market is still far from meeting population demand, the public library is one of the institutions that can promote training for decent employment. Constant employer awareness actions are important, because in consumer society, competition between companies to dispose of their goods has led to the selection of workers that meet their needs, not taking into account the potential of the person.
