Abstract
This research has as main objective to verify the applications derived from Spotify and what functionalities they have. It presents a brief conceptualization about the field and music streaming, according to the literature. According to the methodological procedures, the research is exploratory with qualitative data analysis. The data was taken from Spotify's own website, an online music streaming service, resulting in 41 applications derived from its database. In one frame, applications were inductively categorized based on their characteristics. The analysis pointed to five categories of applications: Music Discovery, Playlist Optimization / Creation, Music Editing, Music Info, and Music Player. The results showed that the number of applications generated are mostly playlist optimizers / creators or applications that provide music related information.
