Abstract

This paper aims to investigate the preservation practices of digital documents in federal public institutions of the Federal District. We analyze some of these practices in order to verify which one or which of them best apply in digital repositories. As methodology, we used bibliographical research, field research, application of a questionnaire and main preservation policies tabulation, to present its advantages and disadvantages. From these data we propose a more adequate archival policy for the Brazilian Cultural Digital Repository. We conclude that with digital preservation, it is intended to guarantee the inalterability of digital records, as well as long-term access, at the Brazilian Cultural Repository.
