Abstract
The purpose of this article is to discuss possibilities of thematic treatment of the information of multimedia collections in the light of the concept of intersemiotic translation, understanding the task of representing these audiovisual materials as a trans - and intersemiotic process. It adopts a theoretical-bibliographic approach and a critical-reflective exploratory purpose. It is concluded that the information professional, as a translator, must be willing to dialogue with the different semiotic universes that appear in the collections of informational units. It is also worth noting the need for research and deepening to carry out the translational operation of the thematic treatment of information.
