Abstract
The growth of documents in digital format has been provoking several changes in the scenario of scientific research and electronic journals are gaining more and more space and investments. However, there is also a need to discuss some aspects that may influence the long-term survival of the contents that are in this context, such as digital preservation in electronic journals. In this sense, the main objective of this research is to investigate Brazilian journals in the field of education, sheltered in the Cariniana, regarding the criteria of digital preservation. A descriptive study, carried out from a documentary research on the spreadsheets provided by the aforementioned network, using data collection two instruments developed by the author to collect the material. It presents, based on the researched literature, concepts, strategies and methods for digital preservation of journals. It concludes that the analyzed journals present some methods for digital preservation but lack of establishment of preservation policies.
