Abstract

Nowadays, more and more companies are getting global operations and leveraging advanced information technologies to reach their global supply chain. It is important to establish an integrated information system that facilitates the innovation and diffusion of knowledge throughout the supply chain. Considering the growing importance of the global supply chain, based on the assumption that information systems are integral components of knowledge management systems, this article aimed to identify, through scientific publications, how information systems can provide an environment conducive to knowledge management to achieve greater competitiveness of the global supply chain. For that, a qualitative, exploratory-descriptive and bibliographical research was undertaken as to the means, to relate published references and to discuss the scientific contributions of the researched constructs. As a result, the technological tools used to enable the management of knowledge in the supply chain were pointed out in order to increase competitiveness and leverage the performance of global supply chains. Subsequently, some future research guidelines were proposed.
