Abstract
This article contextualizes the knowledge of specialized bibliographic classification by librarians, when the majority knows only the traditional classifications like DDC and UDC. It aims to present the Black Classification for specialized libraries in Dentistry, thus collaborate with the literature in Librarianship and Information Science through a literature review, and case study. It presents a description of the Black Classification, history, use and contribution in specialized libraries in Dentistry, besides the difference of the current classification in Dentistry courses and the one used as bibliographic classification system in libraries. Describes and reports the experience with the use of the classification in a library specialized in Dentistry of a private college. It presents unsatisfactory netnographic results carried out with librarians from several Brazilian cities through a virtual poll in a social network, where the vast majority are totally unaware of the existence of this bibliographic classification and a minority knows and adopts the classification in dental collection.
