Abstract

The present work hast the objective of presenting reflections on the relations between the cycle of scientific data management and the paradigms of the field of Information Science (IC) proposed by Rafael Capurro, based on the data management cycle adopted by the Portuguese Open Access Scientific Repository [Repositório Científico de Acesso Aberto de Portugal, RCAAP]. It is characterized as a bibliographic review research for the contextualization of the field of IC, its paradigms, the management of scientific data, the cycle of data management, in order to subsequently analyze the convergence of the data management process in the context of the physical, cognitive and social paradigms of Capurro, specifically by means of the data management cycle model adopted by the RCAAP, as this model is in use and already consolidated in the Horizon 2020 program of the European Union. The reflections point out that data management converges with the social paradigm, since it seeks to meet new demands of society for the reuse of data, where individuals influence and are being influenced, in a continuous process of a collective construction of knowledge.
